PlanGrid Pricing in 2026: What It Cost, and What You Pay Now
PlanGrid is closed to new buyers, so its price is now the price of Forma Build: $67 to $175 per user a month. What teams of 5 to 40 pay, and how that compares with the old plans.
PlanGrid pricing: the short answer
PlanGrid, the construction drawing app Autodesk bought in 2018, has no price for new customers in 2026, because Autodesk no longer sells it. Its last published plans cost $39, $59 or $119 per user per month on annual billing, for 550, 5,000 or unlimited sheets. Autodesk now says PlanGrid access is available through Forma Build, the product that replaced it. Forma Build Essentials costs $67 per user per month on annual billing or $100 month to month, and the full Forma Build costs $117 or $175. A 10-person team pays $670 or $1,170 a month on annual billing, against $390 on PlanGrid's cheapest plan. There is no PlanGrid free trial; Autodesk offers a 30-day trial of Forma Build. Existing PlanGrid customers can still sign in, and Autodesk says it has no plans to shut PlanGrid down. Prices were checked on October 11, 2026.
Search for PlanGrid pricing and you get three different answers. Some pages still print the old plans as if you could buy them. Some say “contact sales.” Autodesk's own PlanGrid page answers the question “How much does PlanGrid cost?” by pointing at a different product.
All three are partly right. PlanGrid had public prices, it is closed to new customers, and the product you can buy in its place has two plans and two billing cycles.
This report puts the numbers side by side: what PlanGrid cost, what Forma Build costs now, what teams of 5 to 40 pay, and what happened to the free trial and the sheet limits. Disclosure: we make SubShare, a crew scheduling tool. It appears in one labeled section near the end.
How much does PlanGrid cost in 2026?
PlanGrid has no price for new customers in 2026, because you cannot buy it. Autodesk's PlanGrid page says “PlanGrid access is now available through Forma Build,” and sends pricing questions there. Forma Build comes in two plans: Forma Build Essentials at $67 per user per month on annual billing, or $100 month to month, and the full Forma Build at $117 or $175.
PlanGrid was a drawing app for the jobsite. It put the current sheets on a phone or tablet and let crews mark them up, pin issues to them and attach photos. Autodesk bought it in December 2018 for $875 million and built its features into Autodesk Build, which was renamed Forma Build on March 24, 2026.
| Plan | Annual billing | Monthly billing | Sheets | Can you buy it? |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| PlanGrid Nailgun | $39 | $49 | 550 | No, closed to new customers |
| PlanGrid Dozer | $59 | $69 | 5,000 | No, closed to new customers |
| PlanGrid Crane | $119 | $139 | Unlimited | No, closed to new customers |
| Forma Build Essentials | $67 | $100 | No sheet limit | Yes |
| Forma Build | $117 | $175 | No sheet limit | Yes |
Sources: ITQlick's June 2026 listing for PlanGrid's last published plans; Autodesk's Forma Build buy page, SoftwareConnect and Constructable for Forma Build, checked October 11, 2026. Annual billing is shown as its monthly equivalent. Taxes not included.

What did PlanGrid cost before it closed to new customers?
PlanGrid's last published plans cost $39, $59 and $119 per user per month on annual billing, or $49, $69 and $139 month to month, according to ITQlick's listing. They were called Nailgun, Dozer and Crane, and the only thing that separated them was how many sheets you could hold: 550, 5,000 or unlimited. Markups and issue tracking were on every tier.
That made PlanGrid easy to price. A small subcontractor with one or two drawing sets bought Nailgun. A general contractor with dozens of live projects bought Crane. For 10 users the three plans came to $390, $590 and $1,190 a month, or $4,680, $7,080 and $14,280 a year.
Those figures still circulate, and some review sites still list them as the current PlanGrid price. Treat them as history. They tell you what a PlanGrid seat used to cost, which is the fair yardstick for what Autodesk charges now.
Can you still buy PlanGrid?
No. Autodesk's PlanGrid page says: “PlanGrid is no longer available for purchase by net-new customers.” There is no plan to pick, no PlanGrid license to buy and no checkout. The page is there so existing customers can log in and get support, and so everyone else can be pointed to Forma Build.
That answers every version of the question, whether you want to buy PlanGrid, purchase Autodesk PlanGrid for a new team or add a PlanGrid subscription through a reseller. None of those is on sale. Mobile access now runs through the Autodesk Forma app, which opens PlanGrid projects for people who already have them.
If your company is already a customer, your admin still manages users and licenses in the PlanGrid Admin Console. Autodesk does not publish what a PlanGrid renewal costs, so ask your Autodesk contact or reseller for that figure in writing before your term ends.
What does Forma Build, PlanGrid's replacement, cost?
Forma Build is Autodesk's field and project management product, and the successor to PlanGrid. It costs $117 per user per month on annual billing, which is $1,404 a year, or $175 per user month to month. Forma Build Essentials, the lighter plan Autodesk launched on March 25, 2026, costs $67 per user per month on annual billing or $100 month to month. Unlimited-user agreements are quoted individually.
Those are US list prices. SoftwareConnect's listing and Constructable's September 2026 review both show $117 and $175 for Forma Build, and SoftwareConnect shows $100 for Essentials.
The two plans differ by what is in them, not by how many sheets you hold:
- Forma Build Essentials ($67) covers field work: sheets, files, issues, forms and photos, plus members, locations and Bridge, Autodesk's tool for sharing between accounts. Autodesk's trial page aims it at subcontractors, specialty trades and small and mid-size general contractors.
- Forma Build ($117) adds the project management tools: RFIs, submittals, specifications, meetings, correspondence, schedule, assets, reports and cost management.
One thing confuses buyers. Autodesk has a second pricing page, the Autodesk Forma pricing page, and it shows no prices at all. It lists three bundles, Model Management, Preconstruction and Construction Operations, each with a “Get a Quote” button.
Forma Build sits inside Construction Operations, next to Forma Data Management. If a reseller quotes you a bundle, ask for the per-user Forma Build price on its own line.
For what changed between the two products beyond the price, see Forma Build vs PlanGrid.
What does Forma Build cost for 5, 10, 20 and 40 users?
On annual billing, Forma Build costs $335 to $585 a month for 5 users, $670 to $1,170 for 10, $1,340 to $2,340 for 20 and $2,680 to $4,680 for 40. The lower figure is Forma Build Essentials and the higher one is the full Forma Build. The last column shows what the same team paid on PlanGrid's cheapest plan.
| Users | Essentials per month | Forma Build per month | Per year, Essentials to Forma Build | PlanGrid Nailgun was |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 5 | $335 | $585 | $4,020–$7,020 | $195 a month |
| 10 | $670 | $1,170 | $8,040–$14,040 | $390 a month |
| 20 | $1,340 | $2,340 | $16,080–$28,080 | $780 a month |
| 30 | $2,010 | $3,510 | $24,120–$42,120 | $1,170 a month |
| 40 | $2,680 | $4,680 | $32,160–$56,160 | $1,560 a month |
Source: our arithmetic from list prices of $67 and $117 per user per month on annual billing, checked October 11, 2026. Yearly totals are the monthly equivalent times 12 and can differ from the checkout total by a few dollars. On monthly billing use $100 and $175 per user.
To work out your own number, multiply the users by the per-user price, then by 12 for the year. For example, 14 users on Forma Build Essentials billed annually cost 14 × $67 = $938 a month, or $11,256 a year. The same 14 on the full Forma Build cost 14 × $117 = $1,638 a month, or $19,656 a year.
Neither plan has a volume discount at list price. The fortieth user costs what the second did, so the bill is a straight line until you are big enough to ask for an unlimited-user quote.

Is Forma Build more expensive than PlanGrid was?
For most former PlanGrid teams, yes. Forma Build at $117 costs exactly three times PlanGrid's $39 Nailgun plan and about twice the $59 Dozer plan. Only teams that were on Crane, PlanGrid's $119 unlimited-sheet plan, pay about what they did before: $2 less per user.
Forma Build Essentials sits in the gap. At $67 it is 72% more than Nailgun and $8 more than Dozer, and it has no sheet limit. The table works that through for a 10-person team over a year.
| Was on | Paid per year | On Forma Build Essentials | On Forma Build |
|---|---|---|---|
| PlanGrid Nailgun, $39 | $4,680 | $8,040 ($3,360 more) | $14,040 ($9,360 more) |
| PlanGrid Dozer, $59 | $7,080 | $8,040 ($960 more) | $14,040 ($6,960 more) |
| PlanGrid Crane, $119 | $14,280 | $8,040 ($6,240 less) | $14,040 ($240 less) |

The catch is in the features. PlanGrid handled RFIs and submittals, as IMAGINiT's migration guide lists. Forma Build Essentials does not. A team that ran RFIs through PlanGrid needs the full Forma Build to keep doing it. For a team that was on Nailgun, that means paying three times as much per person.
Monthly or annual billing: which costs less?
Annual billing costs about a third less on both plans. Forma Build drops from $175 to $117 per user per month, a saving of $58, and Forma Build Essentials from $100 to $67, a saving of $33. For 10 users that is $6,960 a year on Forma Build and $3,960 on Essentials.
SoftwareConnect notes that discounts apply to 1-year and 3-year subscriptions. Monthly billing suits a short job, or the first month or two on a live project while you decide. For a core team that will be on the platform all year, it is an expensive way to stay flexible.

Is there a PlanGrid free trial?
Not for PlanGrid itself. There is no Autodesk PlanGrid free trial in 2026, because new customers cannot open a PlanGrid account. Autodesk's PlanGrid page offers a 30-day free trial of Forma Build in its place. A separate 30-day trial of Forma Build Essentials needs no credit card and puts no limit on projects.
Three rules from Autodesk's Forma FAQ are worth knowing before you start one:
- Trial users can invite other people to a project, and those people get access to it.
- When the trial ends, Autodesk asks you to subscribe to the products you used.
- If you do not subscribe, you lose access to your projects.
Autodesk's Forma pricing page also advertises a 30-day money-back guarantee. Run the trial on one real job, with the drawing set and the people you would actually put on it, and export anything you want to keep before day 30.
What do existing PlanGrid customers have in 2026?
Existing PlanGrid customers keep their access. Autodesk's Forma FAQ says: “There are no plans to shut down PlanGrid or BIM 360 Build and we will provide customers with the access and support they need for their projects.”
What they do not get is new development. In a transition FAQ dated October 16, 2024, Autodesk wrote that it was “focusing more on the future development of Autodesk Construction Cloud, not PlanGrid/BIM 360.”
According to Autodesk's PlanGrid page, a PlanGrid account in 2026 comes with:
- Web access at app.plangrid.com.
- Mobile access on iOS and Android, through the app now listed as Autodesk Forma.
- A Windows desktop app, which needs Windows 10 or later.
- The Admin Console at enterprise.plangrid.com, where an admin manages users and transfers licenses.
So a PlanGrid subscription still works, and the PlanGrid login still opens your sheets. The risk is not that it stops tomorrow. It is that every new feature, and every new price, now belongs to Forma Build.
What happened to the 550- and 5,000-sheet plans?
Autodesk retired them on May 7, 2026. Until then, Forma Build was sold in the same three sizes PlanGrid used: 550 sheets, 5,000 sheets and unlimited. Since that date the 550 and 5,000 plans can no longer be bought or renewed, and the two plans that remain, Forma Build Essentials and Forma Build, have no sheet limit.
MicroCAD, an Autodesk Platinum Partner, sums up the new model in one line: “Seats are user-based, no sheet limits apply.” If you still hold a 550- or 5,000-sheet subscription, you choose between the two current plans at renewal. A move down to Essentials can only happen then.
While a sheet plan is still running, Autodesk's counting rule applies. Your sheet count is every sheet you can access in the Sheets tool across all your projects, and every version of a sheet counts. Files kept in the Files tool do not.
The change takes away the old way to save money. On PlanGrid, and on Autodesk Build until this spring, a small team kept the bill low by keeping its sheet count under 550. Now the only lever is which plan each person is on.
Which plan does a former PlanGrid team need?
A team that used PlanGrid for sheets, markups, punch lists and photos fits Forma Build Essentials. A team that ran RFIs or submittals through PlanGrid, or wants meetings, a schedule and cost tools in the same place, needs the full Forma Build.
- Forma Build Essentials ($67) if the field needs current drawings, issues pinned to them, forms for daily reports and photos, and nothing more.
- Forma Build ($117) if RFIs, submittals or specifications have to run through the same system, or the office wants meetings, schedule, assets and reports.
- Something else if a low price was why you chose PlanGrid in the first place. Fieldwire's Pro plan costs $39 per user per month on annual billing, the old Nailgun price.
The Autodesk Forma mobile app, which opens PlanGrid and Forma Build projects alike, holds 4.7 out of 5 from about 22,000 ratings on Apple's App Store, as read on October 11, 2026. The product is well liked. The question for a former PlanGrid team is what it costs per head. We compare the nearest options in Fieldwire vs PlanGrid and PlanGrid vs Procore, and price Fieldwire for teams of 5 to 40 in our Fieldwire pricing report.
How do you keep a Forma Build bill down?
You keep a Forma Build bill down by putting each person on the cheapest plan their work allows. Pay annually for the people you are sure of, and do not buy seats for people who only need to look. These seven habits follow from how Autodesk now prices the product:
- List who creates RFIs and submittals. Those people need the full Forma Build.
- Ask Autodesk or your reseller whether the rest of the team can sit on Essentials in the same account.
- Buy annual subscriptions for the core team and use monthly billing only for short stints.
- Run the 30-day trial on a live project before you commit to a year.
- If you hold a 550- or 5,000-sheet plan, get your renewal date and both renewal prices in writing now.
- Ask for an unlimited-user quote once the per-user total gets large, and compare the two.
- Take people who only open the app to see where they are working off the account.
The last one is often the biggest saving. On many crews, the people who mark up sheets and close issues are a handful. Everyone else needs an address, a start time and the right drawing.
Where does SubShare fit?
Disclosure: SubShare is our product, and it does not replace PlanGrid or Forma Build. It has no sheet markups, version history, issues or RFIs. It covers one thing many crews opened PlanGrid for: finding out where they are working and which drawing goes with the job.
SubShare is a crew scheduling board. A foreman or supervisor puts each job on a person and drags it when plans change. Each worker gets one permanent link by text or WhatsApp that opens their week in the phone's browser, with the site address, the access code and the attached drawings. There is no app to install and no account, and the plan keeps working without signal once it has been opened.
SubShare is priced by crew size, not per person: free for up to 10 people, $29 a month for up to 20 and $59 for up to 40. One way to split it: keep Forma Build for the people who mark up sheets and manage issues, and move everyone who only needs their schedule and a drawing to SubShare. For a 20-person crew with four Forma Build Essentials users, that is $268 plus $29, or $297 a month, against $1,340 with all 20 on Essentials. You can try the demo board without signing up.
PlanGrid pricing: frequently asked questions
How much does PlanGrid cost?
PlanGrid has no price for new customers in 2026 because Autodesk no longer sells it. Autodesk says PlanGrid access is now available through Forma Build, which costs $67 per user per month on annual billing for Forma Build Essentials and $117 for the full Forma Build. Month to month they cost $100 and $175.
How much did PlanGrid cost per user?
PlanGrid's last published plans cost $39, $59 and $119 per user per month on annual billing, or $49, $69 and $139 month to month. The plans were called Nailgun, Dozer and Crane, and they allowed 550, 5,000 and unlimited sheets.
Can I still buy a PlanGrid license?
No. Autodesk's PlanGrid page says "PlanGrid is no longer available for purchase by net-new customers." New buyers are sent to Forma Build. Companies that were already PlanGrid customers can still log in and manage their licenses in the PlanGrid Admin Console.
Is there a PlanGrid free trial?
Not for PlanGrid itself, because new customers cannot open an account. Autodesk offers a 30-day free trial of Forma Build, and a 30-day trial of Forma Build Essentials that needs no credit card.
What replaced PlanGrid?
Forma Build. Autodesk launched it as Autodesk Build in February 2021, combining PlanGrid and BIM 360, and renamed it Forma Build on March 24, 2026, when Autodesk Construction Cloud became Autodesk Forma.
How much does Forma Build cost per user?
Forma Build costs $117 per user per month on annual billing, which is $1,404 a year, or $175 per user month to month. Forma Build Essentials costs $67 per user per month on annual billing or $100 month to month. Unlimited-user agreements are quoted individually.
Is Forma Build more expensive than PlanGrid?
It depends which PlanGrid plan you were on. Forma Build at $117 is three times PlanGrid's $39 Nailgun plan and about twice the $59 Dozer plan, but $2 less than the $119 Crane plan. Forma Build Essentials at $67 is 72% more than Nailgun and $8 more than Dozer.
How do I calculate what my PlanGrid team will pay on Forma Build?
Multiply the number of users by the per-user price for the plan, then by 12 for the year: $67 for Forma Build Essentials or $117 for Forma Build on annual billing. For example, 14 users on Essentials cost $938 a month, or $11,256 a year.
What happened to the PlanGrid 550-sheet plan?
PlanGrid's 550-sheet Nailgun plan closed with PlanGrid. Autodesk Build kept the same 550, 5,000 and unlimited sheet tiers until May 7, 2026, when the 550 and 5,000 plans stopped being sold or renewed. Forma Build Essentials and Forma Build have no sheet limit.
Can existing PlanGrid customers keep using it?
Yes. Autodesk's FAQ says "There are no plans to shut down PlanGrid or BIM 360 Build." Existing customers can sign in on the web, on iOS and Android, and in a Windows app. PlanGrid no longer gains new features.
Does Forma Build Essentials include RFIs and submittals?
No. Forma Build Essentials covers sheets, files, issues, forms and photos. RFIs, submittals, specifications, meetings, schedule and reports are in the full Forma Build plan, which costs $117 per user per month on annual billing.
How we worked this out
We built this PlanGrid pricing report from published material on October 11, 2026. Here is what we did:
- Read Autodesk's PlanGrid page, including its answers on purchase, cost, login and apps, and Autodesk's Forma FAQ on trials, sheet counts and PlanGrid's future.
- Took the Forma Build and Forma Build Essentials list prices from SoftwareConnect's listing and Constructable's September 2026 review, and checked them against Autodesk's Forma Build buy page.
- Took PlanGrid's last published plans from ITQlick's listing, and checked the cheapest plan against Constructable's PlanGrid review.
- Read MicroCAD's notice on the May 7, 2026 plan change, Autodesk's help article on sheet limits and its trial page for Forma Build Essentials.
- Multiplied the list prices out for teams of 5 to 40 and worked out the differences from PlanGrid's old plans ourselves.
What we did not do: we did not use a paid Forma Build or PlanGrid account, request a quote, or see a PlanGrid renewal invoice. The figures are US dollar list prices and leave out sales tax and any discount Autodesk or a reseller might offer. Autodesk did not sponsor or review this report. SubShare is the one product we sell, and its section is labeled.
Prices change. If a figure here is out of date, email [email protected] and we will correct it and update the date on this page.
